Built by Kevin Spriggs in 1999, Malbis Shell was the first private commercial development in the Historical Malbis Plantation district of Daphne,Al. The development plans included a restaurant and Kevin joined with local restaurateur George Ferniany to plan and open L.A. Subs deli and grill. The locals knew right away that the L.A. in the name represented “Lower Alabama” Subs, and the tourists believed it was a chain from the West coast.
L.A. Subs is a quick service, casual foodservice establishment, where customers are encouraged to participate in the creation of their own sub sandwich, salad, pizza, or hot dog from a selection of a variety of high quality food products. A few years ago gulf shrimp po-boys and Mississippi farm raised cat fish sandwiches and plates were added to the menu. Imported seafood is banned at L.A. SUBS. The latest addition to the diverse menu included 1/2 certified angus beef burgers and fried or grilled fresh, never frozen, chicken sandwiches.
